Sad news for the choir
2nd February 2023

Colin Edgar Musical Director Emeritus BEM
Members of the Suffolk Constabulary Male Voice Choir are very saddened to hear that Colin Edgar, their Musical Director between 1969 and 2015, has passed away at the age of 86.

Colin Edgar

The choir performs on average one concert each month and in the time Colin was Musical Director he only missed three concerts in the 46 years. With his great sense of humour he was well known for delivering his wonderful monologues at concerts. Colin's last concert was on 25 th July 2015 at St Mary's Church, Stoke-by-Nayland. As well as playing the piano Colin was also an accomplished organist. When the choir sang in a church Colin loved to try out the organ accompanying the choir in traditional Welsh hymns such as Morte Criste and Gwahoddiad. In the 2014 New Years Honours Colin was awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to policing and the community.

The choir send their sincere condolences to his wife Christine and family.
